To the One who is Feeling Defeated

A little note for the one who is feeling defeated, alone and fearful: God’s not finished with you yet...

So, last week I was feeling very defeated. I had no motivation to pray or read my Bible. It was like I was numb; just so full of doubt. Does this sound familiar to any of you?

Finally, late one night when I couldn't sleep, I opened my Bible to Ephesians 5 which told me:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Are you trying to live this life on your own? Are you forgetting who your protector is? I know that I was forgetting to make God the center of my life and allow Him to protect me from the darkness of this world. The next morning, after reading that scripture passage, my joy and strength were restored.

The secret is; it really isn’t my strength or my joy, but God’s. His holy presence came ALIVE in me again.

Also, this defeat and fear you are facing is not from God but a feeling from the evil one. And we should never base our faith or trust in God based on a feeling. Feelings are fleeting and always changing. Just because you feel defeated and worn out today does not mean that God has left you or given up on you.

So, knock that fear and doubt out by stepping out in faith. You see, faith is the exact opposite of fear. Faith helps us become fearless. Being fearless doesn't mean you will never feel fear; it simply means that you choose to rise above that feeling to let go and trust God instead. Faith is the confidence that God will do the impossible. Faith is the confidence that God will restore that joy and strength in you again.

Are you feeling defeated today? Is your mind full of doubt and fear? I challenge you to let God be your protector. Put on the full armor of God so that when troubles come your way, you will still be standing firm. Stay alert.

And when that doubt creeps back into your mind, remember God is still there.

I know today is going to be a good day. Why? Because I have decided to let God go before me, for He is my protector. I know God holds this world in the palm of His hands so whatever comes my way, I know He will be there to guide me through it. I also know that God is not finished with me yet. He is still writing my story.

He is still writing yours too.

Ephesians 30:18 says:

God is not finished. He will be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you. God takes the time to do everything right—everything.

Let the Author of life write your story today.

No matter what comes your way, I hope you will be filled with His love and abundance of grace today.

He is not finished with you yet.
