Just a Little Honesty about Gossip, Cliques and a Girls Night Out

I’m just going to say it.

Being a girl is tough & messy.

I mean, for me personally, there are countless times where I found enjoyment and satisfaction over a good coffee date and some gossip. There are endless times when I bent and contorted who I was just to “fit in” with the right clique. I wanted to be accepted, loved and cherished by the outside world.

Sound familiar?

It didn’t take long for me to realize that a girls night out is not worth it if I am trying to be someone else. It didn’t take long to realize I was never going to be happy trying to cut others down behind their backs.

But did I do anything to change it? Nope. I just kept on living like this.

And girls can be mean. I mean like really mean. We can be nasty, fake and SO dramatic.

BUT I have good news: We do not have to stay stuck here.

We don’t have to settle for this kind of living.

We are created to be more than the girl who talks nasty about her bff just to “fit in”. We don’t have to be fake just to please the popular crowd.

Just think, if we STOPPED wasting time and started INVESTING in the things that mattered, this world would be a much better place.

We have to let go of living in the messy world of gossip, cliques and simply enjoy a HEALTHY girls night out.

We have to let go and be REAL about our intentions.

Cause I would rather have one, true and loyal best friend than a room full of people who loved me, but did not truly know who I was.

And I would rather be that one, true loyal best friend to someone instead of stabbing her behind her back.

So what world will you live in?

Trust me, I love my girl nights out. But I have chosen to be WISE, INTENTIONAL and REAL.

Refusing to gossip is a beautiful thing YOU can do.

And those are what makes for the best laughs, the best memories and the best adventures.

Colossians 3:12-14 says Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

And now, we can hit the town ;)
