A Promise that Lasts Forever
I was the little girl who was always fascinated by rainbows. After a rainy day, I would go and look for them in the sky. I also saw them in waterfalls and creeks as I hiked. I mean, it is pretty amazing how colours like that can just form and look so magnificent, right?
And of course, I was told the story of Noah in Sunday school. After the flood had dried up, God sent a sign to promise that He would never flood the earth again. It wasn't just a sign -It was a promise.
A promise that would last forever.
Late one night, I started reading the book of Genesis. I came once again to the story of Noah and God confirming this kind of promise. It says (NLT), "I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth. When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds, and I will remember my covenant with you and with all the living creatures. Never again will the floodwaters destroy all life. When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal [promise] between me, [God] and every living creature on the earth."
Can you believe it?
Every single time a rainbow comes into the sky, not only do we see it, but God sees it and thinks of you and me. He remembers the promise He made thousands and thousands of years ago.
So wherever you are this week, you are loved by the Creator of everything.
And I know that ALL THINGS work together for the good of those who love Him.
So next time there is a storm, look up. Look up into the sky and remember the promise.
The promise that lasts forever.
