The Blank Spaces in our Lives Only God Can Fill
Jesus is the resurrection and the LIFE. He is also the way, the truth and the life! As we have celebrated Easter this year, I've decided I want to be more intentional with how I view God and what He has done for me, instead of trying to take control of every little thing in my life.
Just think about it:
Life is so, so, so busy sometimes. Actually, it is crazy busy. Yet we all want to know what our future holds right now, today.
We want complete outlines and all the blanks filled in. And while we say and preach that we want God to give us the answers and direction, we still try to take matters into our own hands instead of waiting on His timing.
I've realized that God gave us these blank spaces in our lives for a reason.
Without blank spaces, we should shut out God forever and not allow Him to come in and steer our paths in the right direction.
But get this:
God needs and wants to be INVITED IN.
He is the ONLY One who can fill our blank spaces.
But, we must LET HIM.
Like Lysa TerKurst says, "He wants us to make room for His additions to our story."
Yet, why do I feel like Jesus is sometimes not enough by the way I think and by the choices I make? I know His truth, yet I have so many worldly things I cling to, to try and fill the void only He can fill.
And why do we feel that He is insufficient? Why do we lack trusting in Him? Oh, we wander off so easily, don't we?
Even still, He is the resurrection and the life. He is our hope and gift of ETERNAL LIFE.
Let me say it again: He is the only way to true life.
Can you let that soak in?
He is our REDEEMER
He is our PROTECTOR
He is our KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS
He is ABOVE and BEYOND
He is the CREATOR
He is the BEGINNING and the END
You see, He is everything we are not.
I want Him to fill in each blank. I want Him to complete my brokenness.
I need Him to.
Don't you?
You are held in the highest form of love.
Let Him in.
While He only fills in one blank at a time, with every single one, He is shaping our character to match our calling. So, don't doubt God with the bigger picture. You are not alone.
Rest in the promise that we are ALIVE today because of Him.
So let's celebrate, and make room to invite Him into every blank space.
