How to be REAL in a World of Deception

What is your authority?

Is it social media? Or is it Jesus?

Is it your negative friend who always gossips? Or is it Jesus?

Is it your pride and selfish ambitions? Or is it Jesus?

Is it your title or bank statement? Or is it Jesus?

Is it the latest car or fashion trends? Or is it Jesus?

Is it your sexual immorality? Or is it Jesus?

When we are thinking and acting like the majority, we must stop and reflect.

Aren't we supposed to be different than what everything and everyone else around us are doing?

We must remember WHO our authority is.

This past week I attended a prayer meeting at Times Square Church in NYC. I had been to this church a few times before, but never to a service like this. We prayed for the urgent needs in the city, North America and from the other side of the globe. Prayers were streaming onto the screen from England, Australia, China and Canada. People were crying out for deliverance and redemption.

I realized here the ugly truth: We live in a world of deception.

We live in a world where people, more than ever before, are questioning their existence.

We live in a world where people are searching for purpose, but only find the temporary satisfaction.

We are living in a world that is forgetting God's love- REAL LOVE.

Did you know that this world is training us every single day to turn from the straight and narrow path to venture down a road to death?

Did you know that the TV shows and movies of today are training our minds to compromise and justify the things we do?

Did you know that what we listen to; the lyrics to our songs dictates the kind of people we let influence our life?

Did you know that the more time we spend away from God the less time are actually living life ALIVE?

We must STOP. We must get out of the mask of social media. We must wake up and stand up.

We must be REAL.

Being REAL is not having the best instagram post, with over 100 likes. Being REAL is not walking through the doors of your church, smiling, holding back tears, hoping everyone else thinks you are "okay". Being REAL is not buying the latest pair of jeans, hoping to be popular at school. Being REAL is not gossiping about a stranger or a best friend.

It is time that we started sharing our sufferings with a friend. It is time that we shared our deep sorrow that we keep hidden from our church. It is time that we cried out to Jesus to deliver us. It is time that we stopped playing church and started carrying God's love with us everywhere we go.

I know it's a lot easier said than done. I know things cannot happen overnight.

But the choice is up to you.

There's nothing too dirty that He can't make worthy.

There is nothing that goes unnoticed by our King.

Will you take the narrow road or will you continue venturing off into the world of deception?

Be the person who seeks out God every day. He is your purpose. He is your meaning. He came so that we could have life and live it to the fullest.

Will you let Him give you REAL life? Will you let Him pick you out of the lies and darkness?

Remember WHO your authority is.

He will REDEEM you and set you back on the path of DELIVERANCE over deception.
