Finding Your Beauty
Throughout my life I have struggled with self-esteem.
there are times when I have looked into the mirror and have failed to see the beautiful daughter that God created me to be. There are many things that society today is using to tear us down or to make us think that we should be something else. Magazines of skinny models are showing girls that in order to be accepted they should be a certain weight. This is not true! You are beautiful and loved by God. He makes no mistakes.
So why do we worry about what we should wear or what our hair looks like? The bible says:
"Don't be concerned about the outward beauty that depends on fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God." (1 Peter 3:3-4)
Instead of worrying about what we look like we should clothe ourselves with kindness and love because that is what is precious and beautiful to God. God focuses what's in our hearts and not our physical appearance.
In the book of Esther we see that courage and strength is a strong quality she possessed. She knew that going to the king may cause her death, but she was willing to go anyways to save her people. She says "though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die." She knew that God had CHOSEN her for this and that she needed to follow his plan, even if it caused her death. We need to have this exact same confidence in ourselves when God says that he has chosen us for something, Instead of worrying about what will happen or saying "no", we should listen to God and follow what he is telling us because it can lead to amazing things.
When I was walking through the garden at Assiniboine Park here in Winnipeg, I was drawn to look at the flowers and their beauty. They reminded me that we are apart of God's beautiful creation, and how just like a flower we bloom and show the true beauty that he has placed inside each and every one of us. We are CHOSEN in this dark world to shine his light and show his love to others.
1) Each morning when you wake up look into the mirror and say this, "I am God's beautiful daughter. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." By saying this sentence you are is impossible with God on your side.
2) Read your bible! There are so many verses in the bible that tell us our true value in God's eyes. In Proverbs 3:14-15 it says: "She is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her." This scripture is telling us that God thinks that your are more valuable than any jewel, isn't that amazing!
3) Pray! Talking to God when you are struggling to realize your worth is always best. He will be there right beside you to help you realize how beautiful you are in his eyes.
I hope that this helps you to realize what your true beauty is in God.
